The Amsterdam Sacred Harp singers warmly invite you to our All-Day Singing in Amsterdam!
Sacred Harp is an a cappella community singing tradition that started in the 19th century in the United States. It’s loud, fun, and everyone can do it! We will sing from the 1991 Denson edition of the Sacred Harp; some loaner copies will be available.
Our venue will be Gist, Nieuwe Herengracht 18, Amsterdam. There is a nice public garden at the back.
Programme Saturday (Gist):
12:30 Lunch break
14:00 More singing
For everyone who wants to join us for a social in the evening. We meet at 19.00 hrs at Café de Jaren, Nieuwe Doelenstraat 20, 1012 CP Amsterdam (10 minute walk from our venue), for dinner/drinks.
On Sunday, we will be making a boat trip with singing and a (bring your own) picnic. For everybody who signed up: we depart from Mauritskade 3, Amsterdam at 11.00 hrs.
We’ll do our best to arrange accommodation for visiting singers, contact us if you need this.
Waterlooplein metro station is a few metres from our venue, and is two stops from Central Station.
Plan your Dutch public transport trip using www.9292.nl.
Parking in Amsterdam can be very expensive, especially in the city centre near our venue! You can park in one of the P+R locations around the city, combined with a public transport ticket to the city centre (but be careful with the rules).
